Malpas Court - Jubilee School
Malpas Court Primary is one of a small number of schools built in Newport around the time of Queen Elizabeth II coronation, as such they are known as Jubilee schools.
We have done lots of work to celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee in 2022, finishing off with an amazing whole school street party!
Jubilee Tree Planting Ceremony
We welcomed a number of important guests into our school, for our official Jubilee tree planting ceremony - part of The Queen's Green Canopy. We welcomed the Mayor of Newport, the High Sheriff of Gwent, the Lord Lieutenant of Gwent, council members and school governors into our school.
Year 5 and 6 worked with professional singer/ songwriter Ragsy and Gwent Music to create a song for the Jubilee. We also created a special book of photos of Malpas Court, from it's official opening to the current day.
Each class created some incredible work, focusing on the Queen, her life to date and her role within the Royal Family.
Jubilee Tree Planting Ceremony
We finished our Jubilee celebrations with a whole school street party! We made our own special crowns to wear to the party and the grown ups made everyone a plate of party food. We had lots of food from the 1950's including meat paste sandwiches and jelly with ice cream.
