An Enormous Thank You
We have been quite overwhelmed by the kindness of the nursery parents and families. We have all loved working with your children and we are all very grateful for the gifts, special messages and beautiful cards.
We would like to wish you all well and we look forward to catching up with you in September!
Having Fun in the Nursery Bubble
It has been wonderful to talk to the children and families on the phone recently, and for some of our pupils to return to Nursery.
We have enjoyed drawing pictures of our mums. We have also been making mosaic clay hearts to display around the classroom. We have had fun playing with the heart balloons and feeding the birds in the Nursery Garden.
Our topic this term is about mini-beasts. We will be looking at lots of different insects! We will be reading; The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Greedy Bee, The Angry Ladybird and a range of non-fiction books. We will also be singing nursery rhymes and number songs.
The children could go on a mini-beast hunt and make a pictogram of the insects that they see. They could also count pieces of fruit and make simple sums (eg. 2 bananas + 1 apple = 3). They could have a go at making simple repeating patterns with fruit, or paint symmetrical butterflies. Some other activity ideas are: painting mini-beasts onto pebbles or paper plates, and making collages from recycled materials.
There are lots of ideas online about making a mini-beast hotel too.
It is really important that the children continue to practice writing their name and numbers, as well as reading the sounds/ words in their pack.
Let's Grow Together!
This term our topic is gardening - even if you don't have a garden, there are still lots of fun activities you can do!
On your daily walk, children can collect flowers, leaves and sticks to make a collage, or do rubbings or prints. They could do drawings and paintings. They could make a flower from recycled materials. The children can make repesting patterns from what they find outside, or count what they find and sort it by size.
We will also be reading Jack and the Beanstalk. The children could act out the story, or draw a picture of the favourite part or character.
