The Governing Body is a corporate body that supports the school in making decisions regarding curriculum, staffing and finances.
The Governors work closely with the Headteacher, staff, pupils and Local Authority to support the school and make it more effective. It is important that the Governing Body act as a critical friend to provide guidance for the Headteacher whilst constructively questioning proposals and data.
A message from our Chair of Governors:
Thursday 8th May 2025
Dear Staff, Parents and Carers
I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Chair of Governors at Malpas Court Primary School. Despite being new to the school, I am an experienced governor, and this is the fourth Governing Body that I have been part of over the last 15 years. I’m also familiar with the school as I have worked in the Education Service at Newport City Council since 1998.
I am absolutely delighted to join the Malpas Court team and was pleased to take part in my first Governing Body meeting earlier this week. I’m very much looking forward to working with Mrs Llewellyn and developing my relationship with the school in the coming months.
The governing body is committed to ensuring that the school succeeds and that pupils are able to access the best possible opportunities and experiences during their time there.
I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the coming months.
Deborah Weston,
Chair of Governors
