    Dear Parent/Carer,

    COVID19 Update

As you will be aware the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Kirsty Williams issued a statement earlier today regarding school closures:

The minister states that they are “bringing forward the Easter break for schools in Wales. Schools across Wales will close for statutory provision of education at the latest by Friday 20th March 2020.”

You can see the full statement by following the link:

    https://gov.wales/statement-minister-education-kirsty-williams-school-closures-wales

Subject to no further staff absence we will remain open until 3:30pm on Friday 20th March. If for any reason this changes I will of course contact you.

At present there is no end date to the statutory closure of schools. The directive for reopening will be given by the Welsh Government.

Staff have worked on home learning activities for all children. Details of this has already been sent to you.

Again, the situation is fast moving. You will have heard that schools may have a changing role with regards to provision for key workers. At present I have no additional information regarding this. As soon as I am aware of any further information I will pass this on.

Many thanks for your continued cooperation – look after yourselves, your families and those close to you.

    Yours sincerely

    Dear Parents/Carers

Based on the current situation, we have decided to cancel all school events other than basis lessons.

This includes cancelling assemblies, carpet time and after school sports clubs.

More specifically, we have cancelled the following events:

    • Mothers Day Shop - please do not send any money in
    • Year 6 trip to Malpas Evangelical Church
    • Malpas Litter Pick
    • Nursery forest school Easter Egg Hunt
    • Year 1 dental survey
    • Easter service at Trinity Church
    • Reception, Year 1, Mrs Harrington and Ms Dalecka's Welsh themed banquet.

Breakfast Club and Barnaby's will continue to run as normal at this time.

We are closely monitoring advice from the Government which is changing on a daily basis. We are doing everything we can to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our pupils, staff and community.

We have installed new hand washing points and hand sanitisers around the school and continue to remind pupils of the importance of thorough hand washing.

We will NOT allow parents, carers or other visitors in to the school building unless absolutely necessary.

Thank you to those parents who have been incredibly supportive during this challenging time.

    Dear Parents/Carers,

    COVID-19 Update

Following the Prime Minister’s press conference last week, he issued the following advice:

From today should anyone have either -

    • a high temperature

    • a new continuous cough,

they should not go to work or school and should self-isolate for 7 days.

Further information on self-isolation can be found at:

    https://phw.nhs.wales/topics/latest-information-on-novel-coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolationadvice/

In line with our usual practice, if a child is unwell in school then parents will be contacted in the normal way.  If your child is displaying symptoms in school, we will be sending them home.  In these exceptional circumstances the school will take a cautious approach.

Our youngest children can be some of our most vulnerable with the spreading of AND catching of bacteria.  Please be vigilant and sensible when your children are not very well and ensure they are symptom free before returning to school.  Please be assured that the current situation is fully understood by the school and EWOs with regard to the monitoring of attendance. Attendance registers will be noted accordingly should pupils be absent for the 7-day self-isolation period.

What I will reiterate please is that YOU contact the school office by 9am on day 1 of your child’s absence, providing a reason for the absence.  Please leave a message on our answerphone; this will assist our school staff in what is already going to be a very busy period.

Please keep an eye on our website, Weduc, Facebook and Twitter for the latest information.

Finally, we have taken the decision to cancel Parent Consultations and after school clubs to minimise contact where possible.  Parent consultations will now take place after the Easter holidays during the summer term. If you have any urgent queries or concerns, we will be able to offer some telephone consultations.

I’m sure you appreciate that the situation is changing on a daily basis and the school will continue to follow the advice we receive from the local authority and Public Health Wales and share this information as we receive it.

Thank you for your support and patience during this time.

    Yours sincerely
